West State Dean Allen K. Easley Announces Retirement; law school begins search for new dean | New

IRVINE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–October 3, 2022–

Allen K. Easley, Dean of Western State College of Law at Westcliff University, announced his intention to retire after the 2022-2023 academic year. His decision comes after nine years in the position, during which he played a vital role in the success of the law school. This year culminates with Western State hosting the strongest academic fall class in the organization’s history, the addition of five new faculty members, with more hiring on the horizon, and exciting growth in the program, including the recent addition of a JD/MBA program. Western State, the oldest law school in Orange County, California, is preparing a search committee to identify a new dean who will continue to build on the law school’s rich history and trajectory of success.

His experience as a recruiting consultant during the Vietnam War led him to pursue a law degree in order to help individuals navigate the realities of life after being drafted. Once in law school, he realized his passion for teaching and followed in his family’s footsteps as educators to pursue a career in academia. During his tenure, even as Dean, he constantly held a teaching position, where he always remained inspired by the students’ enthusiasm for learning.

Dean Easley has made strategic hires to support law school development and ensure students have access to top-notch instructors and resources. His advocacy for new programs, including the Master of Law and Compliance and a joint program JD/MBA program with Westcliff University, provides students with unparalleled opportunities. Additionally, he has focused on building the incoming student body year after year, resulting in Western State recently hosting its strongest varsity class.

The establishment of a search committee to help hire the new Dean is already underway with the goal of having a new Dean hired by July 2023.
