Rory McIlroy hilariously destroys LIV Golf lawyer after FedEx Cup-Super Bowl comparison

Rory McIlroy has no chill – at all. The PGA TOUR star just posterized the whole of LIV Golf with a rhetorical quip when he recently spoke to the media about the FedEx Cup. When a reporter asked if the FedEx Cup “was the hardest trophy to win”, the Northern Irishman fired back with a hilarious answer.

The reporter was of course also referring here to one of the hearings in the legal battle between LIV Golf players and the PGA TOUR. A federal judge had previously ruled against the three LIV Golf players’ intention to play in the FedEx Cup playoffs this year after Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford and Matt Jones sought a temporary restraining order that would allow them to join the lucrative PGA TOUR playoffs. During one of the hearings, an attorney for LIV Golf compared the FedEx Cup to the NFL Super Bowl, via Doug Ferguson of Associated press:

“LIV Golf’s senior counsel cited the PGA Tour hype as calling the FedEx Cup golf’s ‘Super Bowl’ and the toughest trophy to win. McIlroy would know that from experience, being one of only two players – Tiger Woods was the other – to have won the FedEx Cup twice since his debut in 2007.”

Rory McIlroy certainly had none of those insinuations. Although the FedEx Cup Playoffs are tough to win, when it comes to prestige, there are other golf tournaments or events that equal the Super Bowl. Ask Rory McIlroy or any other golfer, and chances are they’d rather have the green jacket than a win at East Lake Golf Club.
