Practicing the rule of law has brought peace to Anambra – Commissioner

1 Anambra The government claims that the application of the rule of law in resolving communal disputes has brought peace and development to warring communities in the state.

2 The Commissioner for Local Government and Chiefdom Affairs, Mr. Collins Nwabunwannesaid in an interview with the news agency of Nigeria in awka Wednesday.


3 He said that the current state administration wants to prevent conflict and promote peace through the application of the rule of law, to achieve equity and justice.


4 Nwabunwanne said since the creation of the governor. Chukwuma Soludodifferent categories of community disputes had been resolved through fair trial and independent investigations by the ministry.

5 He urged citizens not to take the laws into their own hands, no matter how provocative, and advised that any disputes be reported to his office for amicable resolution.

8 “We don’t want war between parents over leadership disputes at any level or land grabbing.

9 “We need peace in all communities to enthrone sustained comprehensive development of Anambra,” Nwabunwanne said.

ten He added that peace was needed in Anambra to fight insecurity, create jobs and create an environment conducive for business to thrive.

11 “There will be no significant development in an atmosphere of resentment,” added the commissioner.

12 Nwabunwanne said conflict prevention and peaceful resolutions are better ways to live and attract growth as well as development in communities and the state as a whole.

13 The Commissioner called on community leaders and stakeholders to ensure that they live in lasting peace.

14 He said endless leadership disputes in some communities like Agulu, Ifitedunu, Nkwelle Ezunaka among others have been settled through fair hearing and fact based actions.
