Denis Braham joins the law firm Greenberg Traurig
Braham joins the company from Winstead, where he was chairman of the Sports Business & Media Industry Group, a senior member of the Real Estate group and chairman emeritus of that company, having served as its chairman and chief executive. He has been a well-known business and community leader in Texas, especially Houston and Austin, for many years.
Braham has a national reputation representing clients in the sports industry, from venue development, financial and P3 transactions, to athletic commissions and local organizing committees for major sporting events, to professional sports teams and universities in complex sports transactions. His real estate practice involves virtually every industry segment in Texas and beyond.
Braham also represents real estate developers, lending institutions, landlords and tenants in commercial, industrial and residential transactions. Additionally, it engages in the acquisition, financing, construction, development, leasing, syndication, sale-leaseback, management and operation of a wide variety of properties.
Richard A. Rosenbaum, executive chairman of Greenberg Traurig, has long been personally involved in the company’s growth.
“Over the past few years, many companies have been playing ‘follow-the-pack’, especially in places like Texas, Florida, New York and other ‘hot markets’ du jour,” Rosenbaum said.
“Greenberg Traurig was born in Miami 55 years ago and has the largest presence of any company in South Florida. We have…nearly 150 attorneys in the great state of Texas, having entered each of our three markets in Austin, Dallas and Houston long before virtually any other firm founded elsewhere. …”
In addition to his sports law and real estate practices, Braham has decades of experience representing domestic and international clients in complex commercial transactions. His experience includes reorganization and planning, including financing, corporate transactions, venture capital transactions, business start-ups, acquisitions, spin-offs, sales, mergers and intellectual property rights related to business acquisitions.
“Denis has a really impressive reputation. His approach to the practice of law, coupled with his exceptional knowledge of transactions and unrivaled negotiation skills, make him an ideal complement to Greenberg Traurig. Our clients and the company will surely benefit from his vast insight,” said Shari L. Heyen, managing shareholder of the company’s Houston office. “We are delighted to welcome Denis to the team.”
“Greenberg Traurig’s inclusive culture, industry-leading commitment to customers, and global platform were key factors in my decision,” Braham said. “I am thrilled to join such a reputable firm and look forward to working with leading practitioners in Texas and beyond.”
Braham earned his JD from the University of Houston Law Center and his B.Sc. from Hebrew University.
Braham donates his time to various community, charitable and non-profit organizations including the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Greater Houston Partnership, Texas Bowl Foundation, University of Houston Law Foundation and the International Mayor’s Advisory Council. He also works as a pro-Israel activist.
