Baker McKenzie Expands Corporate Law and Dispute Resolution Practice in Sweden – Katarina Bilge Joins the Firm | Other

Baker McKenzie has hired Swedish lawyer Katarina Bilge, who joined the Stockholm office as a senior partner on September 13, 2022. Katarina comes from Sweden’s Ministry of Justice where she served as Deputy Director. She has also worked at the District Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court in Sweden. Katarina will add strength and expertise to McKenzie’s dispute resolution and corporate practice groups.

Katarina Bilge obtained her law degree from Stockholm University in 2006. She joined the office of the Ministry of Justice of Sweden (Real Estate and Company Law Division), where she held the position of Director for the last few years assistant. At the Ministry of Justice, Katarina worked, among other things, on the implementation of (EU) directives on cross-border conversions, mergers and divisions and on the encouragement of long-term shareholder engagement. She has also participated as legal counsel in government investigations in the area of ​​corporate law.

Katarina is a judge by legal training and was a judge in the Swedish judiciary for several years, most recently at the Svea Court of Appeal in Stockholm. She also sat at the Stockholm District Court, where she mainly adjudicated commercial disputes. She has also worked as an administrative lawyer at the Supreme Court of Sweden. She started her judicial career as a trainee in the Legal Service of the European Commission in Brussels and in law firms in Stockholm and Munich.
